Drain and sewer camera inspections

A camera through the line when a clog keeps returning, or before anyone opens a wall or digs up a yard. You see what’s inside the pipe for yourself.

See the pipe before you pay to dig

A waterproof camera on a cable goes into the drain and sends live video back to a screen. Roots at a joint, a cracked section, a sag that holds water, or a buildup of grease all show up clearly.

That turns a guess into a decision. If a clog keeps coming back, the camera shows why. If someone has told you the sewer line needs replacing, the footage can confirm whether it does.

In older Toronto neighbourhoods with clay or cast-iron sewer lines, an inspection before buying a house or finishing a basement can save a very expensive surprise later on.

Questions homeowners ask

Do I need a camera inspection?

It’s worth it when a clog keeps coming back, before buying an older house, before a major renovation, or before agreeing to dig up a sewer line.

Should I get a sewer inspection before buying a house?

For older homes, especially those built before the 1970s on tree-lined streets, it’s a good idea. A standard home inspection doesn’t usually look inside the sewer line.

Does the camera fix anything?

No. It diagnoses. If the line is blocked, it is usually cleared first and then inspected, so the camera can see the pipe itself.

What if the problem is on the city’s side?

In Toronto, the City is generally responsible for the part of the sewer connection on city property. If the footage suggests the problem is there, contact the City through 311.
